Mood

A seamless experience for browsing & purchasing tickets for a local 3 music venue

Duration: 2 weeks

Delivarable: Prototype

Prompt

Using provided user research and client requests, design a ticketing application for the local venue Mood.

Duration: 2 weeks

Deliverable: Prototype

Problem

Mood has 3 venues across the phoenix valley, each differing in types of music and show sizes. Guests can only buy tickets at the door, which slows down entry and makes staffing the shows difficult.

Goal

Design an application that allows users to browse, buy, and view tickets for any show across the 3 venues. Create a prototype showing how a user would make an account, filter results, and purchase a ticket.

Research & Analysis

Competitors

Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, and Stubhub

Although the client provided user research and their functional requirements, it was important for me to understand competitors and potential user expectations.

Insights

  1. National/International companies, not focused on specific city needs

  2. All shows or events, not just music

  3. Focused on large acts and venues

  4. Vertical browsing with spotlight “feature” image

  5. Bottom navigation, focused on users with accounts

  6. Main filters: location, genre and date

  7. Discover feed is general and pushes sponsored ads

  8. All allow for browsing without an account

Ideation

With the product brief and user personas, I began designing by hand to explore a variety of options. This allows me to explore different layouts and features before jumping into interaction design and branding. I then explored wireframes with Figma.

Design

After a final walkthrough with the client, final adjustments were made to the wireframes. We discussed branding and interactions, which helped finalize the following prototypes. Here, we explored the process of filtering the events page, moving through the purchasing experience, and how users will create an account.
